SpaceX’s Starlink Internet is Elon Musk’s proposed satellite solution to change the internet, and maybe even the world! It is also how SpaceX hopes to fund its Mission to Mars!
On May 23, 2019, SpaceX launched a Falcon 9 rocket carrying the first 60 Starlink satellites into low earth orbit (“LEO”). Known as Starlink, Elon Musk and his team at SpaceX imagined a grid-like system of satellites that would wrap the earth in LEO satellites. Because these satellites orbit the earth so closely, this will result in vastly increased internet speeds, low latency and an increase in reliable connectively.
Currently, Space X produces 6 satellites a day at its Redmond facility and has plans to eventually bring its Starlink constellation to at total of 42,000 total satellites. To put this into perspective, there are currently just over 2,000 active satellites orbiting our planet.
Do you think Amazon or any other company will be able to compete with Elon Musk’s Starlink? Will Starlink become a financially viable venture for SpaceX? Let us know by leaving a comment below and a like on our video. We’ll see you guys in the next one. .
