In this show we consider the rivalry between Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin and Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic flights that played out all over social media in summer 2021.

We look at the New Shepard and SpaceShipTwo rockets, compare the experiences passengers will get and relive the social media hype and taunts.

But the big questions are, were they really competing or coordinating a massive PR campaign? Who’s the biggest stunt? And, which ride you’d take if you had the money to blow? We’d love to know your thoughts so please tell us in the comments below. It would make a great poll to know which, if either, you’d fly.

And also please do help us out by subscribing to the show:

  1. Blue origin has the possibility of getting to orbit. I can't see Virgin's space plane ever being capable of that even though it does look cooler. But for me going up and coming straight back down just doesn't cut it.

  2. Another great video. I can’t imagine having that much cash spare that I could burn it on such a short experience! I don’t think either ride is for me…

I think it’s hard to quantify the risks associated with each launch. We are so used to seeing successful launches from whichever launch platform is used, that we tend not to consider the safety aspect.
