6. Aerospike usually requires active cooling so the motor would have to be running to work as a heat shield I'd assume

The Team A vs Team B approach is suspect of itself being an engineered thing; but regardless, it has merit to guide diverse engineering; only this proves that copying aspects of your opponent is not diverse. Still sometimes a small amount of copying and a large amount of other engineering can make a crucial difference. The first stage is what to me, needs total redesign. Obviously one doesn't arrive to a destination like the Moon or Mars with the first stage in tow. Thus a first stage that remains part of the launch system on the ground is indicated. An upward spraying massive slurry against a reactive fish scale covered vessel perhaps?

13. It's not an issue that Blue copies Space X. Though the "copying" is only the use of Stainless steel I am sure Elon would even let them copy more of his designs. The point is easy, inexpensive, and routine access to space. When I first saw Starship, I thought how great it would be to see other manufacturers come on line with their innovative designs. So far, only Rocket lab proposes something fast and cheap albeit not as capable. Vulcan and New Glenn are cutting edge compared to previous systems but not comparable to Starship. And New Glenn, changing to Stainless Steel, will have to lower it's mass to LEO.

    Russia and China is watching and learning from everything you post.
    When they have learnt enough from Elon Musk and at his expense, they will replicate everything he has achieved through his dedication and expense and get it all for nothing.
    Then use it against America.

19. Jeff has a big nose but SpaceX, Virgin, Rocket Lab and Astra have put satellites in orbit, BO nothing. It hasn't even reached orbit so far.

20. I am a great enthusiast for SpaceX and innovative/ disryptive creativity of Elon.

    Having said that, SpaceX needs a credible competitor to remain healthy and good for themselves as well as the whole industry.

    If we assume SpaceX has no competitor for next 50 yrs, the space exploration will be monopolised and inevitably create sphere of influence by SpaceX in everything everyone does with the space, the last frontier. Mars colony will de facto be enslaved to SpaceX and become the first corporate owned planet.

    Healthy competition makes things healier and more equitable for all parties.

    It does not mean we should support everything BlueOrigin does, but we should encourage them to stay healthy and equitable. In the end, how many billionaires are out there crazy enough to throw money after money to push the evelope?

27. The FIRST thing Blue Origin needs to do is build an engine that WORKS. Years behind on the BE-4 Blue Origin has yet to make a single orbital launch. They are getting left behind in the dust of far better companies. The only way they try to keep up is by suing better companies. They are SHAMEFUL!

29. SpaceX and Rocket Lab are leaps and bounds ahead of everyone else. If Rocket Lab can pull off their Neutron Rocket, they will fill the gaps in small to medium launches that SpaceX has left wide open and I think they can and will do it.

33. With all of the delays SpaceX has been given (thank you Bezos!) I wonder where in the greater scheme of things is Blue Origin. Do they have a license to launch from the FAA and FCC for Jarvis? Does Blue Origin need to go through the same studies SpaceX has been forced to go through for launch approval for Jarvis?

    RETIRED 77, USAF VET JET MECHANIC. BIG PROBLEM FOR JEFF: HE DOESN'T HAVE A ROCKET ENGINE THAT'S BIG ENOUGH. BE4 CAN NOT BE BUILT. SIX YEAR DELAY FOR SOME UNKNOWN REASON. CAN'T GET PARTS, GIVE ME A BREAK.
